Luxury specification 60 kilowatt versions of the Bantam of 1998 had cloth covered bucket seats, a sports steering wheel and bodywork decals. These versions were sold under the Ford Explorer name, and the Mazda version as the Drifter, as higher trim levels of the same pickup. The Bantam was a coupe utility pickup that Ford produced in South Africa for the South African market. It was the small half ton pickup known there as a bakkie, sold beside the Mazda Rustler.
