The Millenia in 1998 was sold in Japan under its own Mazda name after the Eunos brand had ended in 1997, and in Australia the Eunos 800 name ran through 1998. It was in the last of the four years in which its Miller cycle engine appeared among Ward's 10 Best Engines. A limited edition Eunos 800M SP with improved suspension and larger wheels but no engine changes was released in Australia. It was engineered to higher perceived quality than mainstream Mazdas, with better interior plastics, smaller panel gaps and a thicker paint coat.
