There were no major cosmetic or mechanical changes for 1998, when a new exterior color, Wedgewood Blue, was added. Availability of the 4.6 liter Windsor engine versus the Romeo engine was limited, and the limited run was only for Expeditions equipped with the Ultimate Tow Package. Since 1998 the Expedition has shared its platform with the Lincoln Navigator, the first full size luxury SUV. It was powered by the standard Triton V8 engine family.
