On 15 January 1997 the fourth generation Kijang was launched in Indonesia with a more rounded, aerodynamic shape, three years earlier than planned because Mitsubishi planned to introduce the Kuda in 1998. The 1997 to 2000 models have a fixed front passenger seat. This was the first model year of the Toyota Kijang (fourth generation, F60, F70 and F80), 1997 to 2007, which took over from the Toyota Kijang (third generation, F40 and F50); the 1998 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Kijang run from 1976 to 2007.
