Exports of the Sentia to Australia were halted in 1997 because of poor sales and an increasingly high price, which in the last year had risen to over 83,000 Australian dollars, about the price of an entry level BMW 5 Series. The second generation Sentia of 1997 was a rear wheel drive luxury sedan with a 3.0 liter V6, in the SOHC and the DOHC forms. The Sentia replaced the Mazda Luce nameplate on the Mazda H platform.
