The second generation Sentia appeared in Australia in April 1996 as the 929, with the engine unchanged and the dimensions of the car reduced from the previous model. It had a larger grille, a taller roofline for better rear headroom and large expanses of woodgrain panelling, to suit formal corporate use as well as private owners, and was advertised in Japan with Sean Connery. The Sentia was the last large RWD sedan from Mazda.
