In 1997 a few changes were made to the Town Car: the rear center armrest added a pair of cup holders, Cartier models gained rear seat vanity mirrors mounted in the headliner, and the trim level badges were moved to the front fenders in place of the Town Car badges. The 1997 Town Car was the last of the second generation, which gave way to an all new body for 1998. It shared its Panther platform with the Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis.
