The final year of the tenth generation, and of the Thunderbird before its retro revival, was 1997, in which horsepower remained the same but the intake manifold was upgraded to give more torque, 280 pound-feet, from the V8. The large two door coupe market that was the Thunderbird's core had fallen almost completely out of favor by the 1990s, and production ended with the 1997 model year. It ended the long run of the large coupe Thunderbird.
