In France the Courier van was called the Courrier, with two r letters, probably because the English spelling looked like a misspelled form of the French word for mail. The Raider sport utility based on the Courier pickup was sold until 1997, when it ended along with the third generation. It began as a sedan delivery, became a Mazda built compact pickup, and later a Fiesta based van and coupe utility. The Courier was a Ford nameplate used on very different vehicles in different places and years, from sedan deliveries to pickups and vans.
