The Sigma of 1996 was in its sixth and last year, the pillared six window sedan sister of the Diamante that Mitsubishi sold in Japan and Europe between 1991 and 1996, with an Australian built station wagon version in Europe. The name Sigma, which had first appeared in 1976 on the Galant Sigma, ended there after twenty years on vehicles based on the Galant and the Diamante. The Australian built station wagon was sold in Europe under the Sigma name.
