1996 Land Rover Discovery

Automobiles

The 1996 US models carried a 4.0-litre V8 that had the same displacement as the earlier 3.9 but with a stiffer block and better pistons, and a change from the Lucas 14CUX engine management to the GEMS system developed by Lucas and SAGEM, which controlled both spark timing and fuel injection and was OBD-II compliant to meet the American requirement that began in 1996. In Germany the Sunseeker edition arrived, with a chromed front bullbar and metallic blue paint.
