1996 Chevrolet Suburban

Automobiles

For 1996 both gasoline engines of the Suburban were replaced with updated Vortec series engines, and daytime running lights were introduced that year. The model line had been given a 1994 exterior update, and a driver side airbag in 1995, with dual airbags following in 1997 and the OnStar system added in 1998. The turbodiesel 6.5 liter V8 introduced for 1994 remained available, and the model sat in the middle of the GMT400 generation that ran until the GMT800 replaced it for 2000.
