In 1994 the mechanical 4L60 automatic was replaced by the electronic 4L60E, and the on board computer, which had managed only the engine in 1993, now controlled both engine and transmission. The fuel logic changed from speed density to mass air flow and the tuning chip became non removable but reflashable. Traction control was planned for 1994 but delayed a year. The on board computer, which dealt only with the engine in 1993, now controlled engine and transmission on automatic models, and the new transmission was shared with other GM V8 vehicles such as the Tahoe.
