A prototype of the Toyota Mega Cruiser was first presented to the public at the 30th Tokyo Motor Show in October 1993. It was designed primarily for military use and resembled the Humvee and the Hummer H1. This was the first model year of the Toyota Mega Cruiser (single generation), 1993 to 2002, the first generation covered for the Toyota Mega Cruiser; the 1994 model year follows it.
