The Lancer in 1993 was in the third year of the sixth generation, with its distinct sheet metal on the Mirage platform, and the Lancer Wagon exported from 1992 and sold as the Libero in Japan. The Lancer Evolution models for rally homologation came from this generation. In Japan the Mirage was sold through Car Plaza and the Lancer through the Galant Store network. Between its introduction in 1973 and 2008 over six million Lancers were sold.
