The 1993 MX-6 was the first model year of the second generation in North America, the A-spec built at the Flat Rock plant by AutoAlliance International beside the Probe and the 626. It was a front wheel drive coupe on the GE platform that the 626 and the Ford Telstar also used, and four wheel steering was available on the second generation in some markets, but the American A-spec models never received it. The MX-6 was mechanically identical to the Ford Probe, the Capella and 626, and the Ford Telstar.
