The 1993 model year was the last for the 5.0 liter V8, which had been used since its reintroduction in 1991, rated at 200 horsepower. The Thunderbird kept the 1992 reshaped decklid with LED taillights, and the V6, V8 and supercharged Super Coupe choices. It was a rear wheel drive coupe, together with its Lincoln Mark VIII and Cougar relatives, nearly the only such domestic cars other than the Mustang.
