For 1992 the Thunderbird received its first styling update, with a reshaped decklid and new LED illuminated tail lamps, which was the first time LEDs had been used in the taillights of a production car. A V8 Sport model was offered for this year only, with the Super Coupe front fascia, fog lamps, lower body accent stripes and an upgraded suspension. The 5.0 liter V8 was still the V8 option. It was the first styling update the tenth generation received.
