In 1993 the Crown Victoria P71, the Police Interceptor, replaced the fleet market S designation. The car was offered in two trim levels for retail buyers, the base model and the LX, which made up most non fleet sales. It was a six passenger automobile with a 50/50 split bench front seat, and it shared the Panther platform with the Mercury Grand Marquis and the Lincoln Town Car. Ford built it at St. Thomas, Ontario, with the Grand Marquis.
