Outside Japan the Alcyone designation was dropped and the car was marketed as the Subaru SVX. The 1992 Subaru Legacy received a facelift inspired by the SVX. A rear spoiler was optional on the 1992 L and LS-L models and was included as standard equipment beginning in 1993. Top speed was 154 miles per hour in 1992 and 1993, falling to 143 from 1994 with an electronic limiter. The SVX suffix is an acronym for Subaru Vehicle X.
