For the 1991 model year the all wheel drive Tempo and Topaz and the entry level Tempo L, which was exclusive to Canada, were discontinued. The Tempo's second generation lineup was reduced to GL, LX and GLS trims in coupe and sedan forms, still with the 2.3 liter four, and late in 1991 a revised body with eight headlamps was previewed, though a redesigned Tempo expected for 1993 or 1998 never came.
