For 1991 the Ford Explorer SUV was derived from the facelifted Ranger, sharing its front fascia, chassis and interior components, which meant the Ranger platform now served the Bronco II, which it replaced, and the Explorer. The Ranger continued with the 4.0 liter V6, the Vulcan V6 and Lima four cylinder engines and was built at Louisville and St Paul. It was produced at Louisville, Kentucky and Twin Cities Assembly in St Paul, Minnesota.
