The Land Cruiser 80 series station wagon was introduced in 1990, replacing the 60 series, launched in early 1990 after being unveiled in October 1989 at the Tokyo show. All 80s sold in North America and Europe had a full time four wheel drive system. A new generation of diesel engines was also introduced, and the smaller variation of the Land Cruiser has been marketed as the Prado since 1990. This was the first model year of the Toyota Land Cruiser (80 series, J80), 1990 to 1997, which took over from the Toyota Land Cruiser (70 series, J70); the 1991 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Land Cruiser run from 1951 to 2026.
