The Bongo of 1990 was in its eighth year of the third generation. The Ford Spectron ended its Australian sales in 1990 after being sold there since 1983, while the Ford Econovan continued. The 4.4 meter Econovan Maxi offered a high roof, a 2.0 liter petrol engine with five speed manual or four speed automatic. It also formed the basis for the long running Kia Bongo range. The Bongo was also known as the Ford Econovan and Eunos Cargo, and it has been built with rear, middle and front mounted engines.
