The XT of 1989 was in its fifth year, with three trim levels, DL, GL, and GL-10 Turbo in the original range, and features either innovative or uncommon in its class, including height adjustable pneumatic suspension, a digital dash, a central locking system and a fold down rear seat. The New York Times had called its design the ultimate in jazzy design. The XT used a single 22 inch windshield wiper which tucked under the hood when not in use.
