In January 1989 the sixth generation Minica, with chassis codes H21 and H26, was introduced, though the engine, wheelbase and suspension were unchanged. A variant with a single door on the right and two on the passenger side, the Minica Lettuce, was developed with the Seiyu supermarket chain, and the Dangan ZZ with a five valve per cylinder turbo engine of 64 PS became a passenger car in August 1989. Sales of the fifth generation had dropped to under 27,000 cars in 1988, while almost 77,000 Minicas were sold in 1989.
