The seventh generation, the BG, arrived in 1989, with 1.3 liter and 1.5 liter engines at first. The Indonesian market 323 was assembled locally starting in 1989 and was available only as a saloon. A South African built model was also sold in Australia between 1989 and 1991 with minor changes, the most noticeable being the clear colour of the front indicators. The seventh generation came as a saloon, hatchback and 323F or Astina.
