1989 Ford Scorpio

Automobiles

By the summer of 1989 the Pinto engines had begun to be gradually replaced by the eight valve version of Ford's DOHC engine, and in December 1989 Ford introduced a saloon version of the Scorpio, which the lack of in the first years had proved to be a mistake for Ford. The Merkur Scorpio was sold in North America in 1988 and 1989, and Ford dropped the Merkur nameplate altogether after 1989. It replaced the European Granada.
