In 1989 the EA Falcon was available in four trim levels with a choice of three straight six engines: the base GL powered by a 3.2 litre CFI, the luxury Fairmont powered by a 3.9 litre CFI, and the sports Falcon S pack and the upper luxury Fairmont Ghia both powered by a 3.9 litre MPI. A five speed fully synchronised manual and a Borg Warner three speed automatic were offered. The EA retained the Falcon hallmarks of width and rear wheel drive.
