In 1988 a van version of the Chariot with an extended fiberglass roof was sold in Finland as the Mitsubishi Space Van. Vans were exempt from tax in Finland at that time, and the roof was extended to reach the minimum height of cargo space needed to register the car as a van. A boat maker, Esboat, produced the extensions, and the top speed was limited to 80 km/h. The Chariot was sold in most export markets as the Mitsubishi Space Wagon.
