The Ranger was the best selling compact truck in the United States from 1987 to 2004, and in 1987 Ford marketed the Ranger GT sport pickup option package, which ran from 1987 to 1989. The GT had been introduced in late 1986 in California. It was built at the Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky and at the Twin Cities Assembly Plant in St Paul, Minnesota, which was the oldest Ford factory in the world.
