For the 1987 model year the fourth generation Bronco, a short wheelbase version of the eighth generation F-150 sharing its chassis with the previous generation, was given updates to its exterior and interior, with a reshaped front bumper, flatter grille, reshaped hood and composite headlamps replacing sealed beams. Fuel injection was added to the inline six, rear wheel anti-lock brakes became standard, and push button control for the four wheel drive system became an option.
