The 1987 model year was the last for the Omni and Horizon derived Charger and Turismo. The 2,011 hottest cars with the 174 horsepower Turbo II engine were badged Shelby Charger Turbo, not Dodge. For 1987 the Dodge Shadow and Plymouth Sundance replaced them, and the Belvidere plant was retooled to build the Dodge Dynasty. Shelby then converted 1,000 of the last cars into GLHS models. Production of the Charger in this form ended with the 1987 model year, ahead of the Shadow.
