The 1986 Charger was the second to last model year for the front drive hatchback built on the L platform, still sold with the Shelby Charger tuned versions and alongside its companion, the Plymouth Turismo. It carried on without major redesign until it was replaced by the Dodge Shadow. The Shelby Charger, the Charger 2.2 and the Plymouth Turismo continued, and the high output 2.2 liter engine of 110 horsepower was also available in baseline Chargers and Turismos.
