The Courier of 1985 had a larger and more modern cab, in step with the redesign of the Mazda Proceed and B series. It offered five speed manual gearboxes, four wheel drive and a V6 engine as new options, and was the third generation of the compact pickup sold with Ford badges. It began as a sedan delivery, became a Mazda built compact pickup, and later a Fiesta based van and coupe utility. The Courier was a Ford nameplate used on very different vehicles in different places and years, from sedan deliveries to pickups and vans.
