For 1985 additional SS colors of black, maroon and silver were made available in addition to white, with pinstriping and options, while the medium blue gunmetal color was dropped. The Monte Carlo was no longer available with a diesel engine, and the base model's 3.8 liter V6 was changed to a 4.3 liter V6 with throttle body fuel injection. Nearly 120,000 Monte Carlos were sold, but SS sales climbed from 24,050 to 35,484.
