Production of 1984 Monte Carlo coupes totaled 112,730, with an additional 24,050 having the SS option, whose 305 V8 made 180 horsepower, a 5 horsepower boost over the previous year. The Monte Carlo SS was available with Strato bucket seats and floor console as extra cost options for the first time. All engines had the three speed automatic transmission except three SSs at the end of the run, and a limited number of SSs were made in Mexico for Mexican sale.
