The 1985 Corvette was a year of tuning rather than change, in which the spring rates were softened in stages. The C4 body still used single retractable headlights, the first time since 1957 that the Corvette had single units instead of pairs, and the fastback coupe had a glass hatchback for easier access to the luggage space. The car of 1985 still used the Doug Nash four plus three transmission, a four speed manual with automatic overdrive on the top three gears, which was available until the 1988 model year.
