Some minor changes and revisions marked the 1984 Grand Prix, including the return of the octagonal Pontiac hood ornament that had debuted in 1976, and gauges with orange needles and red markings. A new optional four spoke steering wheel was available. The LE model was added in 1984 to replace the LJ series, which ended in 1983, in the sixth year of the downsized fifth generation. The octagonal ornament had first appeared in 1976.
