For 1984 the non woodgrain Grand Marquis wagon, previously the Marquis, was dropped, which left the Colony Park as the sole version of the Mercury full size wagon. Sales of the model line were declining as consumers turned to vans and four door SUVs. It kept the fuel injected 5.0 V8, eight passenger seating and simulated woodgrain trim. It was marketed against the Buick Estate and Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser. Eight passenger seating was standard equipment.
