The transformation of the Charger continued in 1984, when quad headlights replaced the Omni style front and separated it from its roots. The Shelby models kept the previous year's nose and bumper. The Shelby Charger could be ordered with an automatic for the first time, 7,552 were sold, and the high output engine was also available in ordinary Chargers and Turismos. The Shelby models continued to use the previous year's nose cap and bumper, and the Plymouth Turismo shared the same front end.
