Toyota redesigned the Tercel in May 1982, and from then it was called the Tercel in all markets, no longer the Corolla II. The station wagon, called the Sprinter Carib in Japan, was introduced in August 1982, and the four wheel drive version of the second generation followed. This was the first model year of the Toyota Tercel (second generation, L20), 1982 to 1985, which took over from the Toyota Tercel (first generation, L10); the 1983 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Tercel run from 1978 to 1999.
