The 1982 models saw only minor styling revisions, and the model line up was reduced by one, with the Caprice Landau coupe dropped. The engine line up remained unchanged, apart from the 305 V8 now claiming 145 horsepower, and the 350 cubic inch diesel V8 was available on all models. With the 1979 energy crisis long over, sales of the full size Caprice were strong. Sales were strong with barely any marketing and no rebating.
