The Black Magic special edition, black cars with gold striping, gold metric TRX wheels and a gold cat's head on each side of the front valance, ran from 1981 to 1983 on the Capri. Its interior had special black seats with sand colored inserts, and in 1981 and 1982 the Black Magic could be ordered with polar white paint. The Capri of 1981 was the Mercury pony car on the Fox platform. It was the Mercury counterpart of the Ford Mustang, with its own front fascia and a vertically mounted grille.
