The Series 2, called the FB in North America, ran from 1981 to 1983, with integrated plastic covered bumpers, wraparound taillights, a larger fuel tank and a redesigned dashboard, while the four speed manual option was dropped. It was 61 kilograms lighter in federalised trim. In Europe power rose from 105 to 115 PS and four wheel disc brakes became standard. Allan Moffat took a third place at Bathurst with Derek Bell, and Tom Walkinshaw Racing entered three cars.
