In North America the 1981 Accord changed only in the details, with new fabrics and a few new color pairings: Oslo Ivory took over from Livorno Beige, and dark brown and bronze metallic were dropped. Later in 1981 the first SE four door joined the range, fitted with Novillo leather seats and power windows in Glacier Gray. The instrument cluster was revised with pictograms that replaced the worded warning lights, and the shifter was redesigned with a stronger spring to prevent unintentional engagement of reverse. This was the last model year of the first generation, replaced by the second generation that debuted on 22 September 1981.
