The fourth generation Mark II was introduced in October 1980, and production of the Chaser swapped to the X51 and X61 in 1980 with the six cylinder 1G-EU. The all new Toyota Cresta was introduced in 1980 as a luxurious companion to the Chaser, and the Toyopet brand name was dropped in 1980. This was the first model year of the Toyota Mark II (fourth generation, X50 and X60), 1980 to 1983, which took over from the Toyota Mark II (third generation, X30 and X40); the 1981 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Mark II run from 1968 to 2004.
