1980 Plymouth Volaré

Automobiles

For the final year, and at the insistence of Lee Iacocca, the Volaré and Aspen were restyled with front styling similar to the Ford Fairmont, a thin grille and rectangular headlamps. The 360 V8 was dropped and the 318 became the top engine. Total production was 90,063 Volarés, a significant portion being fleet police and taxi cars, and the line ended at the start of 1980. The last car, an Aspen, rolled off the line at Dodge Main on 4 January 1980, which closed that factory the same day.
