The second generation of the Galant Lambda was fully changed in May 1980, with the G62B 1800 cc, the G63B 2000 cc, the 2000 GSR with ECI, the G54B 2600 cc and a 4D55 2300 cc diesel, meeting the 1978 rules with the MCA JET. The old name Galant Lambda Eterna changed to Eterna Lambda. The new car kept the styling of the first almost unchanged, with a modernized headlight and less chrome. The name Galant is French for gallant and brilliant, and the Greek letter Lambda stands for luxury.
