For 1980 the Continental Mark VI replaced the Mark V, the first complete redesign of the Mark series since 1972 and the first downsized, no longer sharing a platform with the Thunderbird but with the Lincoln Continental on the Panther. Alongside the two door coupe it introduced a four door sedan, last offered in 1960. The Signature Series was available in coupe and sedan, listing at 20,940 dollars when introduced in September 1979.
